Profile

Marjan Sedighi-Gilani is currently a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zürich (Switzerland). She received a M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from University of Tehran in 2000. She joined the Construction Materials laboratory of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne/EPFL after few years of practicing engineering in Iran. She earned her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from EPFL Institute of Materials in 2006.

Coupled mechanical and moisture behavior of porous materials/wood, multi-scale modeling, microstructure-property relation in composite materials, micro- to macro- scale mechanical testing, materials characterization and quantitative image analysis (neutron and x-ray imaging), failure and fracture mechanics
