Carlo Peretti obtained his MSc in Materials Engineering in December 2010, after the BSc in July 2008, at the University of Padua, Italy.

In spring 2008 he worked at Venezia Tecnologie S.p.A. (Porto Marghera, Italy) on a project about Cold Spray of high performance alloys on stainless steel, in order to write his BSc thesis. He was supervised by Dr. Bernardo Molinas and Prof. Manuele Dabalà. The results have been used to write a paper submitted in 2011.

In 2010 he spent 4 months at the Concrete and Construction Chemistry department at EMPA (Dübendorf, Switzerland), Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, in order to write his MSc thesis about the “Influence on conditioning on transport properties in concrete”, supervised by Dr. Pietro Lura, Dr. Andreas Leemann and Roman Loser. A conference paper has been published.

Between April 2011 and May 2012 he worked as Research Assistant on the topic “Biocides leaching from buildings facades” at ETH (Chair of Building physics, Department of Architecture) and at the “Building Science and Technology” Department at EMPA, supervised by Dr. Timothy Wangler. The main tasks during this time included a literature review, the setup of a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) measurement system and analysis of neutron images obtained during a measurement session at Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen.

Afterwards, he moved to the private sector.
