Andrew Bollinger is a postdoc in the Urban Energy Systems Laboratory at Empa and the Chair of Building Physics at ETH. He completed a PhD on the topic of climate resilient energy infrastructures at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands (January 2015), and holds an MSc in Industrial Ecology from Delft University of Technology and Leiden University.

Andrew's current research focuses on modeling & simulation of decentralized urban energy systems. This research primarily takes place within the context of the SCCER FEEB&D project. Andrew's research interests include:

  • Modeling and analysis of complex socio-technical (urban) systems
  • Decentralized urban energy systems
  • Multi-infrastructure systems
  • Multi-model ecologies
  • Agent-based modeling
  • Material flow modeling
  • Industrial ecology and industrial symbiosis
